Adhesives

Continuing on this week’s theme of being Septic Smart, I will highlight a few of the adhesives that we offer here at RC Worst. Risers, access lids, riser tank adapters, and other tank accessories allow easy access to septic tanks without the need for excavation. As stated in a previous blog, having a watertight septic tank is critical. Leaky tanks can wreak havoc on the environment, equipment, and your wallet. Having the proper adhesive/sealant for the installation of risers, lids, adapters, etc. is an important element in a keeping it watertight.

We are an authorized dealer for Orenco Systems, Inc. They design and manufacturer fiberglass septic tanks, septic systems, advanced treatment systems, effluent sewers, effluent pump, and electrical control panels. Their award-winning technologies are cited in wastewater texts and installed all over the world.

A key component is the Orenco Riser Tank Adapter Bolt Down Kit. The Bolt-down Kits provide everything to make a secure, watertight connection between a riser tank adapter and a concrete tank. The Bolt-down kit includes butyl tape and concrete anchors to attach the adapter to top of concrete tank.

Orenco’s ADH100 is a is a single-component adhesive/sealant used for sealing pipe grommets and for joining PVC or fiberglass risers to ABS or fiberglass Orenco PRTA-style tank adapters (where joints are in shear). Clean and dry surfaces prior to use for proper adhesion. ADH100 will sag slightly in warm temperatures. It is not formulated for exposure to sunlight and not intended for structural joints that are primarily in tension, in peel, or in bending. It cures in approximately 10 minutes. It’s handling strength is achieved in about 12 hours and a full cure is about 2-3 days.

Orenco’s MA320 is a white two-component methacrylate adhesive that bonds PVC, ABS and fiberglass to themselves or each other, but does not bond to concrete. It comes in a two-part see-through plastic pouch that must be kneaded to mix the two components, then cut open and squeezed to apply adhesive. MA320 works well for bonding vertical surfaces due to its thick "peanut butter" consistency.
